The Archbishop of Kumasi, Most Rev. Gabriel Justice Anokye, on Wednesday, August 13, led a high-powered delegation to the Manhyia Palace to console the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, following the passing of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

The visit was to offer prayers for the Asantehene and convey heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Catholic Church. The delegation also paid a courtesy call at the Asantehemaa’s court to extend sympathies to the bereaved family and offer prayers for the repose of the late Queen Mother.

Born Nana Ama Konadu, Nana Konadu Yiadom III was the 14th Asantehemaa and the biological sister of the current Asantehene. The Oyoko Family officially confirmed her passing to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at an emergency meeting of the Asanteman Traditional Council on Monday, August 11.

She ascended to the role of Asantehemaa five years ago after the death of her mother, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II. Over the years, she earned deep respect for her loyalty, wise counsel, and dedication to Asante traditions. Her guidance was instrumental in preserving the cultural heritage of Asanteman while providing steadfast support to her brother’s reign.

Nana Konadu Yiadom III’s presence at the Manhyia Palace was seen as a pillar of stability and unity within both the royal household and the wider Asante kingdom. Her passing marks the end of an era for Asanteman, as tributes continue to pour in from traditional leaders, state officials, and the public.
