President John Dramani Mahama will on Sunday, August 17, 2025, depart Ghana for a two-nation official visit to Japan and Singapore, with the goal of strengthening bilateral relations and boosting foreign investment into the country.

According to a statement issued by Government Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu, President Mahama will first visit Japan to participate in the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IX), where he is scheduled to address a plenary session on promoting trade and investment between Africa and Asia.

As part of his itinerary, the President will headline the Ghana Presidential Investment Forum, showcasing Ghana’s investment opportunities under the Resetting Ghana Agenda. He will also hold high-level discussions with Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, officials of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO). Talks will center on partnerships in infrastructure, trade, and technical cooperation.

Following his engagements in Japan, President Mahama will travel to Singapore for a three-day state visit. While there, he will meet with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. He is also expected to take part in the Africa-Singapore Business Forum, where he will deliver a keynote address, and attend an investment forum to woo Singaporean investors into Ghana’s growing economy.
