Bechem United’s Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Gyasi Atuahene, has revealed that securing the signature of former Manchester City winger Aminu Mohammed was far from easy.
The Hunters confirmed the signing of the former Ghana U-17 star earlier this week as they gear up for the 2025/26 season. Mohammed, once among the most sought-after young players in the world, attracted interest from Real Madrid and Bayern Munich before joining Manchester City in a reported $1.5 million deal.
Speaking to the media, Atuahene said negotiations began immediately after the end of last season. “It wasn’t easy. We started talking to his manager right after the season. We showed him our proposal and made it clear that Bechem United’s objective is to change lives through football,” he explained.
According to Atuahene, the club’s vision to help relaunch Mohammed’s career played a key role in convincing him to join. “We gave numerous examples to show that when Aminu joins Project Bechem United, we will help him get back to his best,” he added.
Mohammed first made his mark in the Ghana Premier League with the West African Football Academy and was a standout for the Black Starlets at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in India.
