The Bank of Ghana has indefinitely postponed the national launch of the Cedi@60 anniversary celebrations, which was scheduled for Friday, August 8, at the Accra International Conference Centre.
The decision follows Wednesday’s tragic military helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region, which claimed the lives of five senior government officials and three personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces.
In a statement, the Central Bank extended its deepest condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, the Government and people of Ghana, and the bereaved families.
“The Bank appreciates the understanding and cooperation of all its stakeholders and the general public during this period of national mourning,” the statement said.
A new date for the event will be announced in due course.
