One Suspect Shot and Arrested; Others on the Run
In a swift and tactical operation, officers of the Obuasi Divisional Police Command have foiled a robbery attempt on the Tutuka-Akrofuom road in Obuasi, resulting in the arrest of one suspect.
According to police sources, the team responded promptly to a distress call and met a gang of robbers at the scene. The suspects, upon seeing the officers, abandoned two unregistered motorbikes and a machete before fleeing into the nearby bush.
A hot pursuit ensued, leading to the arrest of Pascal Yenkye, who was shot in the leg while attempting to escape on a motorbike. He is currently receiving treatment under heavy police guard.
Meanwhile, a manhunt is underway to apprehend the remaining suspects who managed to escape.
The Ghana Police Service has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to protect lives and property, urging the public to remain calm and vigilant.
“We remain resolute in our duty to uphold law and order and will not rest until all those involved are brought to justice,” the statement said.
