President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, August 12, visited the families of three Ghana Air Force servicemen who died in the August 6 military helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.
The victims Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah were among eight people who lost their lives in the tragic incident.

Also killed were high-profile government officials, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Muniru Mohammed, former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye, and NDC Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong.
Final respects were paid to Dr. Murtala Muhammed and Muniru Mohammed on Sunday, August 10, in solemn ceremonies attended by large crowds. A state funeral for all eight victims is scheduled for Friday, August 15, at the Black Star Square.

As part of the funeral, President Mahama will launch an education fund to support the children of the deceased, ensuring their studies are not disrupted by financial challenges.
He urged Ghanaians to turn their grief into renewed dedication to national unity and development, saying the sacrifice of the fallen must inspire collective progress.
