A Volta River Aviation helicopter made an emergency landing Monday 9th August, 2025 morning near the Nkawkaw bypass in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern Region.
The Jet A-1 aircraft, registered 9G-AFW, was flying from Accra to Kumasi when poor visibility caused by harsh weather forced the pilot to land. Sources told Citi News that all crew members, including the pilot, are safe.
The incident comes just days after another VRA helicopter, 9G-ADW, made a precautionary landing at the Presby School Park in Ajumako Kokoben under similar weather conditions. That aircraft was carrying four passengers when it ran into turbulent winds and low visibility. The pilot landed in an open field, drawing crowds from the local community.
Both helicopters resumed their journeys after weather conditions improved.
